I have had my min pin Roxy for about a year now. She turned 5 in November and I took her from a family who could no longer care for her. When I first got her she was sleeping A LOT which I attributed to her trying to deal with the changes in ownership, she had been with the family since she was a couple months old. However, she has never stopped sleeping! She is only awake 6-8 hours a day and it is mainly because I purposely try to keep her up.
I don't think she's old enough to where she should be so tired, especially because as far as I know her breed is an energetic one. When she is awake, she is running all over like crazy and seems to be healthy. She is 1-2 pounds above the normal as of recent which I think may be due to her competition with my other dog, a jack russell (who is also high energy but does not sleep anywhere near as much). She has also had puppies in the past.
Is it normal for min pin's of her age to be so tired? Is it after motherhood? Might it have something to do with her interacting with my jack russell (Roxy was raised without other dogs so has lots of sharing and territorial issues). Please tell me if you have any knowledge or guesses on the subject
