Are Kicker Subs good?

I know little about subs and systems and I was wondering how kicker stacked.

IS kicker a good brand at an exceptional price and is it right for me.
I listen to mostly rock with a little rap if that matters.
If kicker isn't a good brand please list other good decent brands that aren't to pricey.
 
Kickers are for deep bass, if you want it to bump hard, best for rap and all. I have a cvx 15' sounds ok with rock some metal is okay sounding on it also. Talk to a local audio location and tell them your price limit, and tell them the type of music you are wanting it for.
