Are Japanese becoming more aware of the the sudden "boom" of American teens taking

interest in Japan culture? Rapidly there are more and more people becoming interested in Japan, it's almost like a trend.
Some people at school who belong in this clique, will sometimes say random Japanese words such as かわいい, すごい and ありがとう.

I think this is because some American teenagers have grown up watching アニメ, and then watch Japanese dramas because then they are interested in Japan.

Some people make fun of this, and call them "Wapanese" or "Weeaboo". In Japan, I guess you would call them ”日本人と日本語のおたく”

This is almost becoming as prevelant as the ガングãƒ* from Japan.

Do Japanese know of these kind of people?
