Are Hyosungs a joke, or a good alternative to the big name brand sport bikes?

I'd say somewhere in between. The Japanese bikes have been around a long time, they have a good dealer network, you know you can get parts for them. The Koreans and Taiwanese and Chinese are playing catch-up. My guess is that they're not totally jokes but not as reliable as equivalent Japanese iron. They might be a better deal for the money, but the dealer where you bought it might be gone in six months, and that's the chance you take.

I would rather have a good solid used Japanese bike than a new Hyosung. But in five or ten years the balance might be shifted somewhat.

I wouldn't buy one.

However, Kia seems to have made progress in building good cars. Maybe Hyosung will get better in a few years, but not now.

I'm old enough to remember when "Made In Japan" was an insult.
 
stick with the big four. ive seen hyosungs that arent more than a couple of months old and the paint on the tank is already peeling. if you buy quality you buy once, but if you take the cheaper route chances are you will end up spending mor
