Hello,
I am a 16 year old Male living in England. I am currently in my final year of complusory education (Year 11/ High school). I have a passion for History and have decided I want to become a Teacher of it. I have done research to find out if the job is in demand or at least needed and what qualifacations I would need. I may not have been looking in the right places but I couldnt find any clear answers.
I plan on going to my schools Sixth Form and studying History ( Our course includes Russian History from 1900-1945, England under the Tudors, The American Civil rights movement and life in Nazi Germany), Law, Government and Politics and Religous Studies. I have chosen these subjects because I am interested in them, which I believe is important to doing well and because I feel they would help me further understand what I want to teach and to develop my own opinions on them.
So back to my orginal question (s), Are history teachers needed? I realise in the current economic situation certain Jobs are not high in demand and in some cases impossible to find. Also if anybody could help with what exactly I would need to study to become a Teacher (University course, A levels etc.) I understand that the bare minimum is a C or above in Maths and English. I have an A in English Language and just yesterday got a C in Maths which i plan to resit in the Summer to get a B or higher. I have also been predicted an A in my History GCSE.
Sorry for the longwinded post but I hope that the more information I provide you, the more help/advice you can give me.
Thanks for any help!
