Are Guinea fowl a good weed and pest control for your garden?

They graze just like a sheep. My neighbor had oodles of them and they would come and eat the grass in my front yard, in my pasture and I noticed no reduction in bugs--noise, a pain, they are good to eat if you get them young. Don't even ask about what they leave behind--not spit.

Not sure about weeds when they have already grown into plants - but they will eat weed seeds and bugs and, as a bonus, act as a sort of burglar alarm, emitting their calls when startled or approached by strangers.
