Are fords good cars??

I know they have extremely bad rep. but I am looking to buy my first car and i will need good mpg bc i drive to school... im looking at 2008-2009 ford focus
Do you know if ford has made a change in the quality of their cars?
I dont want to get a car then take it to the shop 3 times within the first year...

chevys are a lot more dependable, or you could go with a foreign car they are beast.
 
The short answer is NO. I drive a tow truck and am a light duty mechanic. If it wasn't for fords, i would have been out of work a LONG time ago. I own a 2001 pontiac bonneville with 300,000 miles on it. I've done the usual tune ups and brakes. I did have to do the trans at 240,000, but it has the Original starter, altenator, fuel and water pump. You'll put another $15,000 into your focus ti get that milage out of it.
Stick with GM, parts are cheeper and the cars are much easier to work on. Good luck...
 
i bought a ford focus in 2000 and i loved it best mpg ever i had the hatch back dont about the coupe or what ever it is i got in 6 car accidents none my fault never got hurt so also safty is exellent so have fun in your focus
