Are DEP meetings enough to prepare physically for Navy boot camp?

I ship 27MAY2010 and I was wondering if weekly DEP meetings were enough to prepare for boot camp. I'm not at all worried about my ability to prepare mentally, but physically I've never exactly been in shape. I am currently 208 lbs. which is within the weight standards for my height (74 inches). I can run reasonably well and do a moderate amount of sit-ups (not enough to pass the Physical Fitness Toughness test but enough that I don't embarrass myself), but I can't do push-ups to save my life. All answers appreciated.
And to clarify, my first meeting is tomorrow.

No.

Military is about discipline, and more specifically self discipline. If you can't handle running on your own why do you think you're ready to make potential life and death decisions?

Do yourself a favor and do some exercise 3-4x a week. Good luck in boot.

If you have the ability to mentally push yourself, start practicing now and develop the discipline to get your ass in shape

One work out a week, while better than nothing, is not enough to improve much. You need to do two additional ones per week. Ask your recruiter for suggestions, I could give you all kinds of Army suggestions but they would not necessarily apply to your situation. It certainly sounds like you should work on upper body strength though.
