I might be taking a beginning hip hop class and I don't have any of those Nike shoes I see a lot of dancers wear, mostly because they're pretty expensive. Are Converse alright to wear?
as long as the shoe is comfortable
try doing some random movements in them to see if they hurt your feet
some of the girls and guys i dance hip hop with dance in those so they should be fine to dance in.
