...control the morality of everyone? by interfering in stem cell research?

Why can't these religious these control freaks ever mind their own business by staying out of the lives of others?
 
This is a matter of morality from one person to another. I think people christian or not feel that abortion is killing a child. Its is the use of embryo stem cell's that bother them. To you it seems that abortion is not wrong. But is killing a child? If you say yes then you can see why it is that abortion is such a huge issue. Try to think how you would feel and then understand that they are just doing what they feel is the right thing. Besides embryo stem cells have shown zero break throughs all the advancement has been with adult stem cells. I bet if you watch the videos of embryos being killed you wouldn't feel the same way. This isn't about christianity. They pull them out and leave them on tables or round them up in bags still alive for up to 12 hours. If you see the embryo being burned with the saline that it is in pain. Im not sure how it is a trick or what the trick exactly is?
 
No one ever stopped doing stem cell research.

Bush voted to stop govt funding of fetal stem cell research. That means that non-govt funded research was uneffected. It also means that stem cell research based on stem cell samples not taken from fetal tissue was uneffected. And it means that stem cell research taking place in every other country in the world was uneffected.

Also, most genetisists agree that there is far more actual result producing work being done with adult stem cell research than there was ever potential for with fetal stem cell research.

People get to vote-- for laws, for their representatives, for policy, etc...

That's not control-- that's a republic at work for everyone.
 
I don't know why it surprises you. Yes, they want to control the personal lives of everyone, even though they claim to be in favor of smaller government. Laws which intrude upon people's private lives require a high degree of enforcement, and restrictions on the behaviors that make enforcement difficult as well as on the behavior itself. Case in point: what would it actually take to enforce a ban on the use of contraceptives? An unjust law does not gain the cooperation of the general public to inform on others and to accept limitations on their own independence for the sake of such enforcement.

The wingnut far right efforts to mold everyone to their view of morality is doomed to failure, and it will be an expensive failure. Not just economically, but politically as well.
