Are chromosomes sepratre from DNA?

DNA is the molecule of which chromosomes are composed and chromosomes are the discrete 'packages' into which DNA is separated. There are 23 pairs of chromosomes in a human somatic cell, and each of those 46 chromosomes is made of DNA.
 
well.. DNA is genetic material and it contains base pairs, sugar moeity and phosphate bonds.... while chromosome held these DNA strand in such a manner so that i can accomdate less space in a cell... chromosome wil do this by winding DNA to the proteins...
so chromosome= DNA+proteins
and DNA= chromosome-proteins
