Are cheerleaders really that important in sports?

i have been to many games where there are cheerleaders. high school, college, middle school, even pro.
when the cheerleaders (except in pro) come out in half time everyone does something else instead of watching the cheerleaders. and a few of the cheers for high school cheerleaders and middle school are terrible! no one even cares about them during performances either.

why are cheerleaders so important to sports even though they get the crowd barley rowdy-ed up.

from what i said. IF it is true. why are high school cheerleaders so popular in basic high schools, i don't mean the pretty, blonde, dumb ones. just cheerleaders in general.

Well, some people will say that they help pump up the crowd and the team (which is true), and provide entertainment at breaks (also true), and maybe, when they first appeared, these were their main purposes.
But let's face it, the real answer (and I think most people at least suspect it), is that cheerleaders are out there because there are a lot of guys who enjoy watching hot women jumping around it small, tight outfits, and it is a good way to get male viewers to sit through the break times of televised sports events.
 
i don think cheerleaders in sports are important in the slightest. i'm an all-star cheerleader and would never dream of being one of the girls that comes on a half time of basketball matches, comps only for me!!!
yeah, cheerleaders at sports games are stupid and they require no talent!!! (have you ever seen them doing stunting???)
