Are artists more sensitive to their surrounding emotions and environment?

I am working on a project for my Independant Investigations class.
My thesis: Artists are prone to being empathic to their surroundings.

I plan on investigating the connection between sensitivity and artists.
Do you know any reasonable resources I can look into?
