Are any of the other Splinter Cell games as good as the demo for Conviction?

Honestly conviction ( from what i played on the demo ) is almost like Chaos Theory.. and to me this was one of the best splinter cell games.. especially if you have a friend playing with you.
 
Im anticipating buying Splinter Cell Conviction, but I've never played any off the others...is it worth it to buy the other ones for the game play or the story line?
 
There are 4 other splinter cell games. Splinter cell, pandora tomorrow, chaos theory and double agent. The first three are original xbox games and all are great. The story line, game play and graphics were all top notch when they came out and very fun games. Double agent was made for 360/ps3 and was the worst of the 4 but is still an ok game. I would recommend playing the first 3 games and skipping double agent.
