sure they can add this useless channel but not speedhd which is also uplinked, and man have we missed great programming on that channel, WTF bell

APTN HD is a must carry, and other BDU's have 90 days or 180 days to comply. Rogers has lost 12 SD channels, and will compress their HD signals to make room for channels like this...Star, Shaw, and Cogeco will have to comply. Remember these channels are made available so the BDUs can ensure all markets are covered. Why not, some will say "why do you add the SCORE HD, etc. Not everyone will be satisfied in every decision a BDU makes.

I believe you are incorrect about the must carry status of APTN HD.

The CRTC has approved APTN's bid to get into high-definition programming, and the Aboriginal-aimed channel says it will launch a new HD channel in the first week of March, running 17 hours of original programming a week.

The channel applied for the HD spin-off in the fall, and got the go-ahead from Gatineau in a ruling last week - though the move faced questions from producers at Inuit Broadcasting and cultural group Inuit Tapirit Kanatami about the availability of Inuit language programming.

APTN noted that there is little HD programming available in Inuktitut, but argued that the new channel could help change that situation. APTN HD will be "an impetus for Aboriginal producers to begin creating programming in this new format," said CEO Jean LaRose in a statement.

The channel will not be a "must carry" for cable and satellite companies.

The idea that an all car racing channel (Speed Channel HD) *rolls eyes* is more important than APTN HD is highly subjective... but considering APTN is big on airing Hollywood movies from different genres being a tipping scale point that making APTN HD more important in my eyes at least.

out of all the channels to add.. they had to add this?

What a true waste of very limited HD space. I just watched 5 minutes worth and there was a dude that was on oxygen, yet smoking a Peace pipe faster then i could smoke a cigarette. Someone please tell me were bell see's the logic in adding this channel at a time when there so tight for space! Well i suppose its like the other voom HD channels. Look pretty but virtually no one actually watches anything on them.

I haven't noticed any real drop in quality in any channel anyone else notice drop in quality on any channels?

I was watching college basketball game on raphd and for some reason it looked really bad. Anyone else?

You can't really knock ExpressVu for launching this channel instead of launching Food Network HD or HGTV HD, etc, b/c these channels are not available, APTN HD is. You really should be upset with Canwest b/c they are the owners of these channels and they don't seem to want to launch an HD version of them at this time or is not ready at the moment. Bell can only add a channel that is available or is ready to launch. Now if any of these channels are ready to launch and Bell decides not to add them, then theres a reason to be upset with Bell, but if they are not ready to launch yet, then you really can't be upset with Bell.

That's assuming the movies are shown in HD doesn't it? I suspect APTN HD will be like just about every other HD channel and offer only a few hours of HD a day.

I think the lack of other HD is because CTV is too lazy, and Canwest is really short on $$$... and both those company's own almost all Canadian stations
