I think those always look bad.

As for this channel I hope to god bell had to carry it or else this is a joke.

I get this channel on my basic cable in my apartment where I stay when Im away from home, and I think once in a blue moon they play a decent movie which has nothing to do with aboriginals.

Tomorrow they are playing contact, I did not mind that movie, although again what it has to do with APTN im not sure. But beyond contact it looks like the worst hd channel now.

The HD version of APTN is now uplinked on Nimiq 2:

808 - APTNH [MPEG2 HD] added to Nimiq2/3 82W TP 14 Canada/US beam (Not Available)

The one thing about this that pleases me is tht when I talked to a CSR 11 days ago, she had NO indication of new HD channels being added. TO know they could be this close without a CSR knowing gives me hope that maybe some additional HD channels may appear in coming months.

I don't think i'll be selecting 808 very often though, I've only rarely turned APTN and have never seen anything other than televised call-in programs.

so what channel is this? I google APTN and get several channels that go by this name.

there was some sitcom with natives playing yesterday. It was like an even worse than corner gas degrassi wannabe.

By far the worst channel in the he lineup

I am one-eighth Huron and I still believe this is a pure waste of good bandwith. Another fine example of Canadian political correctness. What's next? HD religious channels?

As a matter of fact......CTS-HD from Hamilton (Crossroad) will appear sooner than later.

Aboriginal Peoples Television Network
I haven't watched it either, but I'm there are fans out there

This thread is about APTN HD on Bev. Lets stick to when this is arriving on BEV, pricing etc.

If you would like to discuss programming on the channel then see our programming forum and if you wish to discuss its need, please see the General Television forum.

Now that is a must see for all people. Can`t wait to get it. Another good use of bandwidth.

Just went through two days of programming. I found one half hour that is in HD. Good job, BEV. I really didn't want Speed, TLC, CNN, etc, etc, etc in HD. This is much better.

The availability of APTN HD is due to a CRTC decision, which I personally applaud. As a fan of Native North American cinema I would look forward to seeing movies as they were meant to be seen when my cable company does the same thing as BEV.

BEV is carrying this channel because they must. End of story.

If you don't like the programming, deal with it by not watching it.

I wonder if there's some obligation on Bell's part to carry this HD channel since its SD counterpart must be distributed as a class 1 or class 2 undertaking as part of basic packages? I didn't see anything in the CRTC approval on this. APTN has committed to provide about 17 hours per week of HD programming... which means that only about 10% of all content will be HD.

The problem is not really the channel, it's the point that they would add this before crap loads of other channels they should launch first, im sure even a Native would enjoy other channels like Food HD HGTV hd or Much HD

If you think about it, thats only about 2% less then your standard networks. Global and CTV HD primarily only have HD programming between 8:00pm -11:00pm and not all that programming is HD.

You don't understand, it's a must carry, the others are not. The question is, why hasn't it appeared on any other provider?

-Mike

I'm pretty sure this is a must-carry. APTN is a service that has been identified as being of great importance to the Canadian broadcast system, so without finding the exact regs, I'm sure APTN HD must be carried.

But is it a must carry in HD? I didn't think there was must carry's in the HD format.
