I just got my first nokia smartphone, an i heard you get apps for it on something called OVI. Is this true? Is it any good? and are there other ways to get apps for it? Its an N900

Yes, I've heard of that but I thought OVI is for music. lol
Anyway, you can always download fun apps from the internet and install it to your phone.

its a bit like itunes apps for the iphone.
some are charged and some are free.
