Cancer is one of life's hardest blows, Im sorry to hear of your misfortune. Take a minute and think about it, the military will not take anyone with pre existing conditions. They are in need of people that are ready to be deployed not the sick needing treatment. Places like Iraq and Afghanistan are not set up to monitor people like you. People who are injured or become sick with cancer are given a medical discharge out the Army. To sue the military wont do you any good it will just be thrown out of court because they have done nothing wrong. As far as SSI, if you feel you were well enough to join the military then why are you not well enough to join the American work force. There are other ways to serve your country then the military, like working hard! SSI in a case like this is nothing more then feeling sorry for yourself looking for a free hand out. I speak from experience as an Army 11 bravo kicked out the Army after a near death accident that has left me with serious pain for the rest of my life. I don't blame the Army, It's just another card dealt to me that makes me a stronger person inside, so like millions of other Americans and Vets pick your head up, be strong and drive on.

Look, listen, it's for your good. It's not a matter of you having cancer, but what implications it can leave you with. You never know how extreme exercises can take a toll on you, worse still with a strike back. If you were to be fighting war, what would happen to you if you collapsed? I hope you reconsider before insisting on filing a report to join the army again.

I'm 19years young, And when i was 5 i was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, my brother is in the army and wanted me to join so he helped me out. The day i went to go in and talk to the recruiter they called and said i couldn't join because of childhood cancer. I was and still am very pissed off about the discrimination factor of the situation. So now what can i do,? can i file for S.S.I. ? Or sue or what can i do to help better my life because for the last 4 years i've dreamed of joining but now i can't because i was diagnosed with cancer like i asked for it ?! This is outrageous... I'm being treated like i have a disability... Please give me some insight, thank you so much !
