Apple may be better then Nexus One and here we got a proof.

Like Natty lite said in the last paragraph, Nexus One DOES have multitouch without unlocking/rooting/hacking. Multitouch is only not enabled in Google's native apps on the Nexus One. If you dig pinch zoom in a web browser, you can use the Dolphin browser. Want to view pictures with multitouch? Multitouch gallery and PicSay can do that.

iPhone browser doesn't do the auto zoom as well. I find myself constantly shifting browser views to view the text properly, where as the Android browser smartly constantly sizes the columns around an acceptable viewable font.

Yes, it does, and quite nice. Except the part where the Select | Select All | Paste pop up menu appears to interfere with my view.

But overall, the trackball works fastest and most directly, especially if you got Blackberry reflexes.

That only pops-up after you release and it always pops up above the line where you put the cursor. You can tap any part of the screen or just begin typing and it goes way instantly. Doesn't interfere with any view.

It does to me, especially when I don't need to see it at all. I like to see all the text I'm working with. I don't want or need to make a second tap just to make the Select menu disappear.

Just a quick question. The "acceptable" viewable font - is it fixed font size like Opera/Mini (i.e. with text reflowing)? Iphone safari also fit text column to screen width when you tap but it is pretty useless most of the time since the font size is too small to read.

most people agree because apple has the patent on multi touch. so google would have to pay apple before they are allowed to use it. google DID enable multi touch on the verizon droid eris i believe, just not on any of the other android phones thus far...

I think the Droid Eris only has it because HTC enabled it themselves. But as the previous poster stated, the Nexus One now has multi-touch, and the Droid has it in maps.

I still think this was all blown out of proportion. They still had it available for third party apps and there are alternatives to multitouch in a lot of cases anyway. I mean, look at the N900. It has a resistive single touch screen and you can do precise zooming in the browser with their swirl gesture.
