Apple Macbook Magsafe charger broken? I only have an hour of battery left, help?

I have the late 2008 version of the macbook. I believe its the 60W charger. It's plugged into a functioning outlet and plugged in but the light is not on and my computer is not charging. I think the cord has broken from too much strain. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
