How reliable is bootcamp?

Here is my Scenario.....

I have Mac OSX Snow Leopard running and I use bootcamp to install XP on it. I follow the whole procedure for installing XP and now I have 2 Operating systems.

However, what happens in the future if I wish to delete that XP partition? Will it be a fairly simple process, and will the partition become a single OSX partition again? Will my data on my main OS i.e. OSX be affected?

O.K. lets say I have managed to delete that XP partition....Now, will I be able to run bootcamp again and say this time install VISTA, will bootcamp work properly, or will I have to re-install everything..my OSX, drivers etc and start from scratch?

So in short, is bootcamp a good utility, can i install, re-install or delete partitions easily if and when I need too? without problems?

Note: I am fairly new to the MAC side, I have more experience with windows, and I would appreciate if you could give me any advice, (not alternatives like virtualbox, parallels etc) and if possible explain it clearly without being too technical. As a final note, I have backups of my important data.

Thanks.
