Apple Lawsuits against Symbian Theme Developers.

My take on it as well. Anything created (graphic, image, music, drawing, sketch, etc.) has copyright by that person/company. It's just a matter of whether or not they pursue/defend their interests (public opinion aside). This varies country to country, but for now, we're talking about the U.S. as it applies to Apple.

I wonder what the general forum consensus would have been if the opposite were to start happening, say from Micro$oft... Mr. Gates is quite the Type A+ personality also.....he just stays out of the media as of late.

What I am wondering why is Apple doing this it just will make people want the real thing more. I thought MS had a stick up their butt some times on stuff like this but not even MS has it as far up as Apple does now. I just do not get that at all.

There are plenty of windows based symbian themes and I've heard no mention of microsoft being upset. If anything, people that like the look and feel of windows tend to migrate towards it. If S60 users are running windows themes and icons perhaps they too will "test the waters" so to speak. It builds the brand.....free advertising.

If Apple didn't have a stake in cell phones, they wouldn't have a problem.

The CEO, Steve Jobs was under investigation for improper compensation or something financially, I hope he gets busted too. I worked on a case against the CEO of Tyco and he's in the big house tossing salads.

i didn't like apple before this because of itunes and the way it completely takes over your computer, the fact that itunes and mac osx is completely not accessable for blind/vi people despite thousands of letters. also what has been called "ipod magic" there was an article on the iphone flopping a few months ago on cnet. it's a good read. now i really hate apple because of this lawsuit and the iphone being hyped so much and really not being that revolutionary in any way, aside from again, due to lack of 3rd party apps, being completely inaccessable! way to stick it to we blindees!

at this point i want to kick steve jobs in the nuts

I think the Iphone is going to go the way of the Razer. At first they are going to be able to sell it to the people that just must have everything that is new. After about 6 months people are going to wise up and see how bad it realy is and how many phones out there do what this phone has well before it came out. After that the price is going to go down big time.

When i see "way of the razr" i think of something completely different. Two years later and everyone still has a razr. They are still $70-$80 from cingular with a contract. I think the price will drop but not below $300. never. I hope the iphone doen't go the way of the razr in this respect.

Jobs has repeated that there will be no carrier subsidies. I think he is more willing to let this be a newton or cube than to be a Razr. If they drop it to $75 the brand looses its "value" and there is no way Apple will let that happen or take the massive profit margin loss. They would rather have a failure on their terms than let the market dictate actual cost

This is silly on Apples part. Do you see MS suing Symbian theme creators for XP and Vista themes? What about Ferrari suing for using there symbols? This is retarded.

I see Apple going the same route as Sony. Once cool, with now an ego as big as their growing income and Steve Job's hyperbole.

That's why it looks like I'm sticking on getting the N95. True cell phone enthusiaist know the truth and will pick substance over "flash. I would sacrifice thickness and looks for more features at equally the same price as the iPhone. N95's camera alone is already better than my current digital one. The smart money is on the smart phone. The iPhone isn't, but is priced beyond one. I can see the Nokia N95 holding it's own in a span of two years vs newer techology. Give me a useful feature like true GPS over photo stretching with my fingers any day of the week. The iPhone's 'hollow' specs will get outclassed by several phones midway thru the mandatory contracts with Cingular.

I'll stick to the #1 seasoned vet over the newbie who's overcharging us and giving us less breathing room with proprietary software. It's back on being a Nokian. Better value until Apple refines a few things and improves on other features. The 'smart' phone for rich dummies market looks like it can go to Apple.
