Apple iPod nano (2nd generation) Frozen on Hold?

I have an iPod nano (2nd Generation) and it is frozen on hold. Switching the hold button doesn't change it and it's still frozen. I can't hold the middle button and play button to restart it because it's frozen on hold. I tried restoring it on iTunes, but it displays an error and I can't do it. It is out of warranty and I am not sure what I can do??
 
you should probably get a new one , i have a nano 3rd gen and it freezes alot more often nowadays since i had it for like 3-4 years. though i can always restart it. try holding the middle and play button longer or maybe its a different button? mines middle and menu button
