Apple iPhone 3G [S] vs. Sprint HTC Evo

And I'm saying, A: wait for it to build out, and B: you'll be getting 2.5mbps downloads on 3G while you wait for it to be built out.

That's like Att saying they have the fastest 3g network, but just not everywhere. :)

If the iPhone doesn't bring something revolutionary to the table it will loose a good chunk of their stronghold, well for the exception of its fanbois. There are rumors here and there about what it might have and honestly I hope they are just rumors cause many people are going to be disappointed.

Even though Samsung makes it, Samsung is just the fab for it. The 3GS chip is actually a custom one designed by Apple using ARM and PowerSGX licensing. I don't see any other chip that has that particular and very powerful graphics unit inside it - it will outdo the unit on the Snapdragon in creating triangles.

A lot of people are easily distracted by these early launches and don't realize the mistakes being made.

Don't get me wrong, the Evo 4G is hot -- if I were in the US, I'd seriously consider it even if I wasn't in a 4G area. But Sprint's announcing it now is potentially a fatal decision. By the time the phone is shipping, you'll probably have seen a new iPhone -- and a lot of the hype given to the Evo 4G will have cooled off. Sprint could have an all-out marketing blitz, but unless Android has just that much more allure than the Palm Pre did, Apple could own the news again.

Not to mention that Apple probably isn't standing still. There was a leak of a taller iPhone design, so the gap in screen quality could be much smaller. And there's no doubt Apple wants a performance boost across the board.
