go to photobooth, (if it's not in your dock, then go to spotlight and search for it [top right corner that looks like a magnifying glass]) once photobooth opens you should see 3 buttons in the grey bar below where you can see yourself, click on the third one over that looks like a movie film strip, then click the red button in the center and it will start recording!
