Apocalypto

I'm curious to see what the opening numbers look like. I was surprised to see the movie selling out alot of shows here. I honestly didn't think it would appeal to the mainstream audience.

The movie even got a standing ovation in the theater I was in which again shocked me.

A part of me was pretty disappointed. I was expecting a movie more about the Mayan culture and the ending of it's civilzation, etc., but it really wasn't that kind of movie at all. It was an action/chase movie basically.

It was definitely riveting though. Wow! The cinematography, the costumes, the characters, etc. were amazing.

Curious to hear the thoughts of those that see it.

It is. :)

I'm planning to rent Apocalypto, heard it's a great movie.;) My friend said it's brutal though.

Cool, thanks for this article. I think it is great that he is using an indigenous cast for this project and will make the film more realistic.

And I just saw on Rotten Tomatoes that the film is 82% fresh! That is awesome. Going to be a good one.

I might get to see a screening of the film tomorrow -- keep your fingers crossed.

Check out these amazing pictures -- very impressed with Gibson's work but then again, I dont expect anything less :) Can't wait.

I was seriously skeptical when my dad insisted we rent Apocolypto. I'd never seen a trailer or even heard of it, and from the description on the back of the box, it seemed like some dumb action "let's-kill-everyone" movie. Well, it kind of was, but in a good way. I ended up loving it (possibly more than my dad did!).

Oh, Duh! haha

Thanks for the article -- very interesting and congrats to Gibson for his award. I did not know that the whole cast was Hispanic -- huge plus to the film. Will make the film even more realistic...

That is a great picture S.A.S.H.A. -- where did you get it? do you have a link? I think it is great that he is doing this film -- love educational films.

I hope i can see it...i'm so not a city person(lol so no idea why i chose a college in a city) so i'm not sure where the theatre is.....it couldnt be @ the theare i know...it just had to be somewhere else lol...it says it starts @ 7:30pm i think, so i'm going to have to leave early so i can find the theatre lol

S.A.S.H.A., I completely agree -- think it is going to surprise all doubters...

And WildAtHeart, let us know how it is -- I am so jealous that you get to see it early.

And have yall seen the new tv spot? I like that there is dialogue now and the cinematography is just amazing. Doesn't surprise me since it is Gibson
