Apartment or Car??? trying to get away from my abusive mother.?

Im 20 years old and going to college full-time and have trouble trying to make it out in the real world. Im staying at home with my abusive mother who doesnt help me get a job and licence ( i have to be added on her insurance cuz you can get your own car and add it ) it sucks and i hate it here. Im was planning on getting a car for less than a $1000 (grant) but my mom said i couldnt get a car with out insurance and i have to have someone towe it for me...she makes excuses all the time so i wont get one..she wont even take me to look around. (she want me to be home and work like a slave) N E Wayz now i want to get this job first then get an apartment so i can get out for good. The apartment i've been looking at is a block away from this job but the college is five blocks away so it like in between..would you get the car anyway cuz i have a permit (expires in a month) but hard to get my licence..i could walk to work but its hard to get to school..its too far to walk..what would you do ??? i have some money saved up.
