Remeraber, this is not official rom (yeah dream on). It might contain a bug, maybe lot of it. And this is still an earlier phase of Apache WM6! this is the first APAC WM6 on earth so dont expect too much, but please do your part to make it better!.

Supported device:
UTStarcom PPC-6700, Audiovox PPC6700, Audiovox XV6700 and all Its variant.
ITS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MOGUL/PPC6800/XV6800 (I've couple of pm about this)

Installed it yesterday.. haven't noticed an immediate difference in any performance or anything.

GOt one problem.. I can't turn off the SMS delivery confirmation messages. I need to find the reg. key and manually disable them
 
Im about to load it myself and was wondering just that. if there was any huge significance, or should i save myself all the trouble and just keep my xv6700 as is?

is it just the skin that is basically different? i was gonna read the BUGS forum on it to see if there was anything major.

but so for no big change on your end as far as u can tell?

keep me posted im not sure yet wether im gonna do it or not, ill wait for a lil more feed back.
 
I installed this ROM on 3 phones today, including my own. Nearly *every* cricket setting was already taken care of, which was quite surprising to see it done so well by a non-cricket ppc geek who also did roms for a dozen other providers.

I still had to change the mms port to 8080, add mms.mycricket.com to the exceptions (connections settings menu), add X-Cricket-MDN=My10digit# to the registry, and maybe select the cricket ppp connection to be the default internet connection.

Overall no problems, although the peeps at ppcgeeks are still working on a solution for the Palm Threaded SMS.
 
OK i did it! so far so good. just the simple setting changes and that has been it.
runs great no problems and all my apps so far work without a problem. cant wait for the kitchen to come out so i can make me sweet ol rom. but hey they said that xv6700 would never see wm6 ce. phones with OS'es kickass period.
this phone has been an awsome experience, thought i would share that with ya.

Has anyone gotten the weather tab or the windows live package to connect using WAP?

Also, how do you get explorer to use wifi as an internet source. In wm5 i just went to connection settings and chose something other than "cricket WAP" but now I get "could not connect"
 
Same here. I installed it on one of my 6700's and it is nice. The only thing is that I can't get the WiFi to work. I see my Wireless Network, but when I went to set it up, it kept asking me to re-enter my password. Even on unsecured WiFi can't connect. I've looked around and found that I am not the only one searching for that fix. Everyone has tried soft and hard resets. Does anyone know what I've missed?
 
ok lets see if this can help/
1st go to settings /connections/wifi

(u will have to switch a couple of settings each time u want to go from Wap to wifi, pain in the butt)i havnt got around to figuring out how to make a wifi and wap connections live together.

2nd click on the "network adapter " tab on bottom right and make sure that the "my network card connects to: says "internet" not work.

3rd go and click on the "wireless" tab right next to the network adpt tab and click on your wifi network that u want to use/ u should see your network in the box.

4th if u double click the wifi network u want to connect to , u will then get the "configure wireless network" wizard

5th under connects to: select "the internet" and then next

6th depending on the Auth u have set up as to what u will select, me , Auth:open data encrypt: disabled / if u need a key then put your key in and so forth , then select next

7th for me i just click finnished here cause there is no more options available

now close out and go back to settings/connections/ and then click on the "advanced " tab and then "select networks" and change to "my isp" for both option in the this program connects to" field.

then "ok" out of there.
i recommend connecting to the wifi or starting it up first then open up IE or opera.
i was good to go after that/ i did have to go topera and its settings to uncheck the wap proxy since i wasnt using it at the moment/

to go back to your wap connection just go settings/connections /advanced tab and change your "this program connects to" back to the cricket connections.

Thanks Bunvilla for the walkthrough and I tried everything you listed, But still no luck. I reinstalled AKU 3.5 and the Wifi worked fine as before. I guess I will wait and see if anyone else with my problem has found a solution.
 
ive been hearing that for some reason that wifi hasnt been connecting to encrypted networks with the new rom (wm6) some people have had success but alot havent.
also u might try unchecking or clearing the proxy setting (the wap.cricket.com:8080 and or put a check when setting up the wifi that it is a hidden network.

also try using under "select networks" my work network instead of my isp/

does the data window pop up if u select the IE button on the side of your phone,
trying to connect or dial up. if so then u want to disable that so there is no option but the wifi. it probably doesnt but if it did then u need to make it so it not available. (the dail #777 option)
make sure u dont have a bunch of network connection made either because really to use the wifi u just double click on the network u want to connect to and configure a few settings and presto / no need to configure proxy or modem settings/ just a straight connections/ its the data or WAP connections which is my complicated/ but good luck
