One unintended consequence of the immigration restrictions passed in the 1920s was to:
A.make it harder for leftists and political radicals to come to the United States.
B.decrease the number of immigrants from southern and eastern Europe.
C.increase the number of immigrants from southern and eastern Europe.
D.increase the number and proportion of immigrants from Mexico and Latin America.
E.end legal immigration from east Asia.
I'm really leaning towards D or A. I'm not sure what A is, but I think it could be D because the Immigration Act of 1924 did not put any restrictions on Latin American countries. Therefore I believe that there was a big increase in Hispanics immigrants that was unexpected to the United States. The purpose of the Act was to slow down immigration but all of a sudden there are still many people from Mexico and Latin american countries coming into the US. Can anyone support the fact that there was a large amount of immigrants from Latin America and Mexico during the 1920s? Or if it's A? Thanks for your help.
