My teacher once drew a diagram of a box sitting on a TABLE, so the box wasn't at floor level. There's obviously a downward force for the box because of gravity. However, because there's a downward force, there must be an upward force as the box is still. Where is this upward force coming from? My teacher says the upward force is not coming from the table. (is he right? I might've misheard.)
