Anyway to auto-insert apostrophes on contractions?

I'm 3 days in on my Nexus One and I am loving Android. I thought it would be a hard transition from Blackberry, but it's been pretty easy so far. I love the autocorrect feature while texting, it's a lot more intuitive and smarter than the one on my curve. The one feature it seems to be missing though it automatically putting in apostrophes when I type a contraction. On my Curve, if I typed in "wont" it immediately changed to "won't" and so on. "Won't" will show up in my suggested words list, but is there anyway to get it to automatically choose that?

Edit: On second glance, it seems to do that for most contractions, just not "won't." Anyway to change that?

you're right: the autocorrect should prefer "won't" over "wont," as "wont" is a far less common word.

you could always suggest it as an issue here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list

I don't know why it would be different on the N1... my G1 has always made "wont" into "won't." The one that want to see is "id" become "I'd."

ok, try this:

go to settings > language & keyboard > user dictionary
hit menu > add
add the word "won't"

now open a message and type "wo" - you should get "won't" as the preferred suggestion

I think you guys are misunderstanding, though. I think OP wants the word "wont" to automatically change to "won't," without him having to choose from the list.

my N1 prefers "wont" over "won't" but if you add "won't" to the user dictionary like i posted above, all you need to type is "wo "
