Anything that is more than a paragraph long is a rant?

That is entirely dependent on whomsoever is reading the question or the answer. There are some odd ducks out there in YAHOO land who perceive anything that does not agree with their personal agenda to be a violation. TREAD LIGHTLY ! !
 
Personally, I've written MANY answers that were longer than a paragraph, and never received a violation for ranting. For other things, yes, but not that. Ranting is not a matter of how MUCH you type, but HOW you type it - choice of words, phrasing and emotional content. If you can present your points clearly, clinically detached and devoid of obvious bias - there is no violation.

Lying is not essential to avoid insulting others. Simple care in choice of phrasing, again, will prevent that. Truth can be revealed in ways that don't insult the intelligence - OR BELIEFS - of those with different viewpoints.

As to typing 'against yahoo answers staff', again, this is dependent on the wording. Using scurrilous language, metaphors that make inappropriate comparisons with certain animals, or other references that are insulting - is a violation. Can you find APPROPRIATE ways to express your discontent with how the site or its employees function? Of course you can - that is the challenge here. Others do it, so why not figure out how to avoid these violations instead of simply complaining against them?

That isn't true. Rants usually involve users who write in a wild or unstructured way not exactly getting the point across to the given audience. Just because someone writes a long paragraph does not make it a rant. You must look at the structure of said paragraph and then decide if it is a rant or not. As far as it being reported for violation? That all depends on the content. Just because you report an answer doesn't mean that it will be removed. It is usually removed because the content is inflammatory, inappropriate, or insulting. If someone writes a long paragraph and it does not contain any of those traits, then it isn't against Yahoo's rules. The rules state that content with those three characterisics are to be removed, and most of the time that is true. Long paragraphs do not fall in that category.

To answer your other statements, lying is something that is not encouraged, at least on this site. I believe you can be truthful without violating the guidelines here, or without offending anyone. Lying just covers up the truth and morally it is not the right thing to do. It is when you become offensive that you are at fault. As far as speaking against yahoo answer staff, once again, that is permissible only if you are within the guidelines. But as far as paragraphs go, I usually write long one's in an effort to convey my point in an intelligent manner. Some users do not like my long paragraphs, but that doesn't stop me from answering effectively. I'd rather have quality and quanity, rather than just one. I believe in both, and if users do not like it, then they do not have to read my answers.
