anything comparable to SE W810i at 320 bucks?

Is there any phone that I should consider getting that is in the price range of 320 dollars and has a good camera, UI, and decent music playing ability?
 
nothing really compares to it, because its the elite of its class. by far the best camera for any $300 phone, and can support up to 4Gbs of extra storage (and 8Gb when its released)...
 
Don't bother with a 1900 only phone if your in the US. Its the worst advice you'll ever hear. Even if you are on T-mobile, you will have lost massive coverage area, which T-Mobile has 850mhz roaming agreements with Cingular.

As for the phone, the W810i is a good phone. It would be something I'd consider buying again (sort of, I had a w800i for a while), but the lack of a protective cover for the camera is an instant no-no for me.

You might want to consider the Samsung D900 for about $100 more, or wait a bit for it to drop in price. Significantly better Camera, mp3, and size/style.

There are MANY Tmobile customers who use 1900mhz only phones. Heck, I use 1900mhz only phones with Cingular all the time without a problem.

Granted, I'm in Chicago so coverage is great.
 
I've had no problem with 1900mhz reception on my 903t. Just picked it up today, but it's worked, so far, from San Gabriel, through downtown LA, worked brilliantly in Little Tokyo (which is only appropriate, after all!), and up to my house in the Hollywood Hills.

Notably, I get better, clearer, reception at my house with my 1900-only 903t than I ever did with my S710a! With the 710, I could only make/recieve calls clearly if I went outside onto my back deck (which has a clear line-of-sight to cell towers), but with my 903t, I can clearly hear calls from inside my bedroom and hallways. It's using Cingular's network, too, not T-Mo. Maybe the 1900 reception here is better than the 850, but the S710a was defaulting to 850 because it's cingular's preferred band?

So, if you're in a major metro area, and don't plan to be out of developed areas often, or have a backup phone with 850, there should be nothing wrong with having a 1900-only phone.
 
It depends on where you live.. Some places even with tmobile, you'll need 850 to get a good reception. While some places you can have cingular and only 1900 and do fine.
 
not true. i have Cingular and i have had great reception on my w900 no matter where i have roamed (though i have only left CA once). there is a site called Wireless Advisor. find it, pop in your zip code, and it will show you the gsm providers in your area and the frequencies they are utilizing.
 
i have the w800i in northern california (sf bay area) on T Mobile. i definitely have noticed that I don't have coverage in some places where friends also on T Mobile with 850-band phones do have service. not just in outlying areas -- certain parts of san francisco, oakland, etc ... it's very spotty. seems like it really depends on where you are and plan to use the phone, and that you can't really say "you need 850 in America" or "you don't need it." when i have coverage the phone is great. but i am getting a little tired of the "no network coverage" message like I got in the bar i was in tonight.
 
Think of it this way. If you are sure the city you are in ONLY uses 1900, you'll be fine.

But if you want to go anywhere at all, ESPECIALLY if you are on Cingular, you absolutely need 850.
