Anyone remembers "C.O.P.S"?

Not the stupid Fox reality show but that awesome cult animated series from DiC, it's a futuristic Sci-fi animated series that lasted two seasons. It's set in the future in a fictional city that is like New York, Chicago and L.A. combined, these COPS (Central Organization of Police Specialists) defend the city from Big Boss and his gang of crooks.

I loved this since i was 6 back in 1988 and even had the toys, it's one of my all time favorite cartoons. Peter Chung ("Aeon Flux" creator) did the character designs on the show and even produced, was this show influenced by "Blade Runner"? same kind of cops in the future thing.

It's kinda hard for me to forget

I was a big fan as a kid, loved all of the characters (Longarm, BP Vess, Highway, Mainframe, Nightshade, etc). I remember all the action figures coming packaged with cap guns.

I have some memories of that. "It's crime-fighting time!" That's cheesy, but that's the 80's. Not a gem of my youth like other 80's cartoons, but for what it was it was fine. Pretty catchy opening too.

You also got to hand it to Paulina Gillis for playing one of the most mannish characters in cartoon history - Stephanie Demeanor (Ms. Demeanor)!

(I've put that girl in a Jem fanfic at one time where Ms. Demeanor ran a record company.)

And yo, don't Tina Cassidy (Mainframe) and Lark Tanner from Beverly Hills Teens look suspiciously alike?

I used to watch C.O.P.S. all the time, but years later always had trouble finding other people my age who remembered it. Haven't seen it since, though. Been meaning to check it out on DVD to see if it still holds up. I also still have my action figure of the evil scientist dude with the half-exposed brain and his robot companion.

(And hey, Fox's Cops is awesome! :D )

That would be Dr. Badvibes and Buzzbomb respectively. See, I remember. What'cha goin' to do when they come for you? Sounds like a crossover for a F-A-N-F-I-C.......

I remember having some of the action figures as a kid, and I did watch it from time to time, but I don't remember we anything about it now. I remember IT but I don't remember it.

If that makes any sense.

Paulina Gillis was a very underrated voice actor. I wish she did more work.

Anyway I remember C.O.P.S. it was one of favorite cartoons growing up. I'm shocked Hasbro hasn't tried to revive the toyline.

Damn straight, dawg. Poor Paulina.

Anyway, I did a Jem animated series fanfic at a Jem website, and, in one of the episodes, I brought Ms. Demeanor in as the owner of a wild new record company. Paulina Gillis still voices her though.

They definitely need to revive the COPS toyline though.

My local television affiliates always ordered only 13 episodes of this series and it didn't even have the two part series premiere.

Still, it was a great show with a lot of wacky characters with voices that ranged from good to questionable (I could never understand why Berserko always sounded like a guy who just got kicked in the nuts) and the PSAs were hilarious!

"Don't be a bicycle, Berserko!" :D
