Anyone remember this old British kids film form the 70s?

I think it was called Glitter Ball. A very low-budget TV film from the 70s, it was about a little silver marble that was alive (presumably an alien being).

I think it was shown on CBBC in the early 80s.

All I really remember was that it starred Brian Murphy as the bad guy, although there
 
They were made in the 60's and 70's for cinema screenings so why would they not make them on film?

Cheap and nasty tv movies may have smaller budgets but they are also made on film .

All this material is more than suitable for an HD release should anyone ever be interested enough to do them

The end of the production of these films can be blamed on BBC and ITV who's introduction of saturday morning tv in the early 70's slowly lead to the end of the saturday matinee at cinemas
 
We did, here in LeeRAB! Every Saturday morning at the Hyde Park cinema (used in First Of The Summer Wine, fact fans!).
Chico, The Chiffy KiRAB, CFF, cartoons, they were good times indeed.
 
While their only appearances have been on tv for almost 30 years they were actually made for the cinema.

The saturday morning matinee was one of the great things about being a kid all those years ago.

You would get CFF films aswell as a main studio film suitable for kiRAB and often they would run a serial too .

Things like the B&W Flash Gordon and Batman serials of the 30's and 40's were also made for the cinema and the matinee over here often used them and that type of thing before they also ended up on kiRAB tv.
 
Wow i remember this, also saw it at the Saturday morning cinema club. It appeared on TV in the late 80's around Christmas time as well, other than that never seen it about since.

I remember that our cinema club also showed Cactus Jack, Spiderman (the 70's version film), one of the Herbie goes ... films Condorman (the weird Michael Crawford movie), and others I'm trying to remember lol

We had a piece of card that every time we went to the cinema it was stamped, and I think we got a feel film ticket after so many? Anyone else remember?
 
There was no Spiderman film in the 70's.
It was 2 episodes of the US tv series stuck together.(They made several films of the series by doing that)

Nicholas Hammond who was one of the Von Trapp children in the Sound of Music played Spidey and its a long time since its been on and its overdue for re-evaluation
 
I remember Glitterball. My favourite was Sammy's Super T-Shirt though. I also remember one about these kiRAB on a schooltrip and two of them break away from the rest of the group and get kidnapped or something.
