anyone remember last year's E3 where sony claimed the PS3 would have TWO HDMI ports?

it's an option.. they announced it would support wifi but never said it would be built-in or be given for free.. so if you want it you pay $100 for theirs or ~$50 for a third party wifi adapter.

sony said the ps3 would come with 2 HDMI ports and that isn't even an option. where can you pay $100 to get a second hdmi port added in?
 
It has an HDMI output ... it supports HDCP which is all that's necessary for the AACS that will be put on blu ray movies. Games wont use the AACS anyway ... I don't understand what argument exists that the ps3 wont output 1080p content at 1080p


Also, games don't require HDMI to output 1080p. The only reason movies do is because HDCP is the only way to force compliance (by using a software side token key) ... there's no advantage to puting that token on a game ...
 
I don't think the did it to cut costs... With current technology they can't make a console powerful enough to render two 1080p images at once, thats a shit load of processing power. Hell, the xbox360 is pretty close in hardware specs and I think it can only render one 720p image and upscale to 1080i. To say that their console could render two 1080p images at e3 05 was either an insanely a gross and completely idiotic oversight or a lie.

This is why companies like sony, microsoft, and nintendo are so reluctant to release any early details. because the minute Sony has to cut something to keep costs down or change anything for any reason, the 360/ wii fanboys jump all over it yelling "LIES" in a feeble and immature attempt at bashing the system before its release (Which i ALWAYS found retarded).

Microsoft did the same thing anyway, HD-DVD amyone? built in WiFi who? ($400 plus the $100 network adapter comes to 100 less than a "fully equipped" PS3 with more features and undoubtedly far better games.)

Fuck the "online community", they have yet to release an online multiplayer 360 exclusive title that keeps my interest longer than 30 minutes.

nintendo just didnt say shit before, they knew better. (gayest name for a console ive ever heard by the way, the goddamned "net yaroze" sounds more appealing than "wii")

Do you really need two HDMI outs anyway? Who has one of the few ridiculously expensive TV's capable of 1080p, and if you have one of those overpriced sons of bitches, why do you wonder why the PS3 will cost so much? The 360 sure as hell cant do 1080p. I dont know/dont care what the "wii" can do, for $200sumthing, theres no question as to whether or not I'll buy one. Fucking zelda, metroid, and smash brothers? Backwards compatability or emulation with all the old nintendo consoles? you cant compete with that shit.

About 99% of the faults people are trying to find with the PS3 are bullshit and not anywhere near as big of a deal as they blow it out of porportion to be. Talk about hype? EVERY SINGLE XBox360 game I own besides burnout (not 360 exclusive) was overhyped and a letdown as far as i'm concerned. Not to mention NONE of them have been worth the $60 goddamn dollars they charge for no reason considering other versions of the same game are cheaper and its printed on a simple DVD. I'll admit tho, ive been waiting to give oblivion a try, but i just dont have the time to get all into that now.

Cliffs: Quit bitching, the PS3 will fucking own and undoubtedly sell like hotcakes regardless of the price OR the number of goddamned HDMI ports.
 
Well I'll definately agree with you that anyone buying the 500 dollar version = idiot ... whatever value the ps3 does hold is completely non-existent in that version, though it should still support 1080p gaming with the multi out

3) who cares about 1080p for games at this point? movies are the important thing for blu-ray and full HD, not games.
 
and I'm not happy about Sony being a bunch of fuckin retards about the PS3.. yeah I like to laugh at them cause they're a shitty company but I'd prefer they left themselves in the race and provided some competition for microsoft

sony and microsoft both thrive on monopolizing or dominating a market.. that's why sony has a habit of creating their own formats for so many things.. they hate competition.

I guess their way of avoiding competition for the "next-gen" consoles has been not to provide any themselves

2) And fanboy? Of what, quality? I have a 360 which I am honestly pretty damn disappointed with for my $400, $100 for the adapter, and $360 worth of games. The truth hurts, sure as hell hurts my wallet everytime i make the mistake of shelling out the money for another overhyped mediocre game good thing i live close to a BlockBuster now is all I gotta say.
I plan on getting a PS3 and a Wii. Who am I a fanboy of? Honestly though, I expected no other response from somebody complaining that there aren't 2 HDMI ports as if that makes ANY goddamn difference. How many HDMI ports does the 360 have? Oh, thats right, 0...whoopity doo.

3) So spend the same thing and get a Blu-Ray player that can't play games and bitch about IT not having 2 HDMI ports if it doesnt, since it's obviosly so necessary.
Who the fuck cares about a video game console for watching movies?
