Anyone listen to jazz here?

Do you guys? Whos your favorite? Ive been listening to a lot of miles davis recently (never really used to), and just got a new Watrous CD which is awesome (i play 'bone, so i practially worship watrous, hes so good!) Dizzy's alumni all star band has a couple of really good CRAB that i like to listen to...oh yeah, Thelonius Monk is always great....

what about the rest of you?
 
Sirius satellite radio has a few jazz stations that I've been listening too. I like Al Jarreau, Miles Davis, and David Sanborn.
 
I've been listening to a lot of Antonio Carlos Jobim lately. If you like the bossa nova type of groove, he is the grandaddy. I would highly recommend the album Tide.


I also like Miles Davis (esp. Sketches of Spain and Kind of Blue) and Clark Terry (In Orbit is a good one, and features Thelonius Monk).
 
Jazz fusion is my favourite sort of jazz...stuff like Mahavishnu Orchestra, as well as McLaughlin's solo stuff is brilliant. Charlie Mingus is probably my favourite non-fusion jazz artist, closely followed by Thelonious Monk. Miles Davis has never really seemed as good as he's made out to be from what I've heard.
 
I don't know if it's really classified as "Jazz" But I've been listening to a lot of "Jaga Jazzist" and "The Jimmy Chamberlain Complex" Both BADASS shit. But I honestly have no idea if it's classified as "Jazz"

Miles Davis Rocks! Thelonious is sweet too! Dave Brubeck, super cool and easy to listen to.
When I first wanted to sample some jazz to see if I would like it, I bought a double CD called "Straight No Chaser" and it was a collection of about the 25 top sampled/covered songs by Blue Note artists (although the songs on the album were the originals). I still love it and strongly recommend it as a way to get into classic jazz.
Otherwise, for funky jazz, Maceo Parker is amazing and if you like him then do what you can to see him live. We saw him at The Commodore and they must have played for about 3.5 hours. We even named one of our cats after him! lol
 
Chick Corea ftw. I've been downloading the live at the blue note tokyo video, with John Pattitucci and Vinnie Colaiuta. Some of the best jazz playing I've ever seen. The chops of these guys are just unbelievable.
 
jazz is awesome. i could listen to some death metal, punk, black metal, hardcore, anything. but nothing amazes me more than jazz and seeig jazz musicians play. how they trade solos and its just amazing. theres this jazz channel where i live and i only know a few muscians such as victor wooten and pat martino.
