every now and then whom so ever we meet we greet them with "HELLO" word ..i want to know the history and origin of the hello word.

From what I know, "hello" is an alteration of the words "hallo" and "hullo", which had been in use for quite some time. Other people say Thomas Edison created the word for his new telephone.
