Crikey a Wild Ski Bum

I recently picked up "Owl" by Desmond Morris, one of a series each focusing on the history and biology of a single group of animals. Other books in the group are "whale," "crow," and "cow for example.
Terrible book. I thought I'd come out of it with a new understanding and appreciation for owls; that I'd never look at them the same again. It had absolutely no depth. Fact after fact after fact with no explanation, context, or staying power in my brain. Reading Wikipedia could have taught me more.
Anyway, anyone have ideas?
