I have been looking for a few days and cant find very much on this phone, so i figured i would ask here. Can anyone point me to a guild that shows how to disasserable the MY Shot easily so i dont screw it up. And An alltel sch-r430 Flex cable/screen should do the trick to fix the white screen of death on my phone right? After getting My cricket to work with the alltel flex cable/screen, anyone who neeRAB the rest of the myshot can have it for free just message me.

I took the liberty of changing your original title as it was misleading, making it seem like you were providing instructions on how to do so.

Carry on.....

not too hard to do man

1st- remove the 4 screws on the back corners of the phone

2nd- starting from the bottom of the phone, carefully use a pry tool, or flat screwdriver and separate the 2 halves of the phone. work your way around the bottom edges first, the phone kind of hinges at the top.

3rd- disconnect the flex cable and the interior screw that hold the board in place, right next to the flex connection. this should get you to where you want to be.

4th- remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the phones inside screen, usually 2 little paRAB cover the screws. remove the cover, this should allow you to remove the entire screen and cable thru the slotted opening. swap em out, replace cover and 2 screws, drop the board in, making sure to replace the mount screw, snap on the back tighten up and you should be ready to go.

hope it helps out some, good luck.

At first I thought I was going to break something I had to pry so hard, but following the above directions does work - but you'll discover it's not that the phone is hinged at the top, but that there are about 6 tab locks that need to be 'popped' before they will release the bottom half. (2 or 3 each side) If you start at the bottom and pry up one side, then the tabs on that side will pop, and then you can do the opposite side. I think you can also push in on the tabs so they release once you see them.

(tip- if anyone has broken off a heaRABet jack in the port, it is possible to push the useless tip out from behind once you remove the back. Yeah!)

White screen doesn't necessarily mean the flex cable is bad... more times than not that is the case but I've had R430's white screen because of a bad mainboard. also had a razr and a couple of other phones do that.

If you have a razr that white screens like that and it is not the flex cable, an easy solution is to reflow that motherboard. Look at the tiny components on the board on both sides of where the flex cable plugs into. Put a small amount of soldering flux on the components, a paper clip works great for an applicator. Heat them up using a heat gun and angle the heat away from the plastic that the flex cable plugs into so you don't warp the plastic. Get it good and HOT, let it cool, and put it back together. This method works very well, but sometimes will last only a couple weeks and you have to do it again.
