anyone know a proven method to overcome anxiety?

I don't mean a method like "take deep breaths" or distract your self" it doesn't work for me. I want to know what would help me. I get extreme anxiety attacks when I have to do pubic speaking. This is ruining my life. Every time I get a new class my first thoughts are "are we going to have to present in this class". I haven't chosen my major yet because every career I am interested in involves some public speaking. I sometimes drop classes because of presentation. When i'm up there I first start to shake then my heart rates speeds up it feels like i'm having a heart attack, I sweat, my voice shakes, I feel like im about to die. I hate this so much. I fear I will be like this for the rest of my life. It is required to take a speech class in college and am terrified out of my mind at the thought of enrolling in this class.
