I have a bad spine, top to bottom. I've had 2 cervical surgeries and am fused from C3 to T1. Once again, I've got more nerve and cord compression in my neck but my NS doesn't think that is what is causing the newest symptoms. I keep going nurab all around my anal area and Saturday, I couldn't urinate or have a bowel movement for several hours. And I'm starting to drag my left leg for no reason. It just doesn't keep up no matter how hard I try.
My lurabar spine has been a mess for years. Started hurting when I was a child after abuse injuries. Then when I was 25, I tore the anterior ligaments throughout the entire lurabar spine and pulled it badly half way up the thoracic, herniating 6 disks at the same time. I spent a year on my back.
Anyhow, I've gotten so used to bad back pain that I simply assumed it would be with me forever and my NS said the same thing...way too unstable to operate on.
Then about 18 months ago the pain simply disappeared. I thought maybe my medication for rheumatoid arthritis shut down the arthritis and that is why it felt so good. But that wouldn't make the nerve compression feel good, I don't think. RA drugs don't cure sciatica.
But I was happy! I didn't care why just that it happened at all. No one has done an MRI since this happened.
Then it dawned on me today......is it feeling so good because the compression has gotten so bad I don't feel the pain anymore? I had no pain in my neck/arms/shoulders/upper back with my herniated disks and cord compression in my neck either. It too had disappeared. My MRI listed every single spinal nerve in my neck(from C3 to C7) as severely or very severely compressed and 4 levels of cord compression. Is that why they no longer hurt?
Has anyone else had their back pain suddenly disappear like this and what was the cause...good or bad.
