As a reminder, I have failed back and laminectomy failure, arachnoditis, sciatica, arthritis and si joint dysfunction.

Out of nowhere, I have recently gotten a new pain that is excrutiating. It is in my low. right back and it hurts with every movement that I make as well as with each breath that I take. I can no longer turn over from a laying down position, getting up and sitting down all cause a pain that makes me yell and then cry. Also, when my left leg is lifted up, while I am lying down, this same area in my right l. back hurts extremely bad.

Any thoughts about back pain that worsens with movement or with a deep breath (or yawn). I am going in for a stimulator to be inplanted later this week. But I am afraid that something new has happened to me back and hopefully can figure it out, prior to the surgery.

Thanks,

I don't know what is causing your pain but I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and hope you can get some relief. Does your doctor know about this pain? I sure would make sure he knows about everything before this next procedure. Please contact your doctor and my thoughts and prayers are with you because this sounRAB very painful.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am going to try to get ahold of my Dr. tomorrow and see if I can get a referal to an MRI, prior to my surgery. Ithink that once I have the scs put in, I can not have mri's after that.

Thanks again,

Hi, I get something like this once in a while, it's usually when my spine is really stiff and hurting pretty badly. But mine only happens while laying in bed. I usually lay on my side, so that's when I noticed it. I'll wake up in the morning still in the same side position and take a deep breath, but can't take it deep enough b/c I'll feel almost a sharp pain in my lurabar spine and it radiates out to the side (usually out to my right side). Once I get up and start moving around, though, it doesn't happen at all. SO for me it only happens while laying down and it does not happen often. But i've also had the same thing happen in my mid spine a few times. I've mentioned it to my rheum in the past, but he never said much about it except it was probably due to my spine OA. And it does not hurt my lungs at all or my chest, it only hurts inside my spine when trying to take a deep breath. I wonder if it would be similar to when one has sciatica and it kills to laugh, sneeze, cough, etc...maybe it has something to do with the valsava maneuver.
