anyone have C-diff?

My husband is having the C-diff infection of the bowels for the 2nd time since trying to recover from having his knees replaced and having pneumonia. He's taking the really expensive Vancocin antibiotic for the 2nd time.

Also, I fear I may have it although I'm not having the typical diarrhea? Anyone heard of this as well? I've had my stools tested once; it came back negative. I know many times they like to get 3 samples, having them tested every 2 wks.

I'd really appreciate hearing from someone.

My mum has just had while in hospital, not suRE which antibiotics she had but she was preTty bad with it as she has bowel cancer too, she is now home and we still think she has C-DIFF!
Hope your husband is soon over it.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I'm so sorry about your Mom. Does she have diarreha with the cancer as well? If so, I suppose it would be hard to know if she has the C-Diff without a test being done. As you may know, C-Diff can be some really bad stuff and can be fatal too. My husband is so depressed with the C-Diff...he's hardly able go anywhere because he's afraid he'll have an accident in his pants. Best wishes. Anorman

Yes she does have toilet issues with her bowel problem too! I know how your husband must be feeling, mum doesnt want to go out anywhere either, must be so embarassing for them!
Hope your hubby is soon feeling better.

Thanks. My husband's only outings are to see his Dr. This is so depressing for him. And he has to take a dose of immodium so he can do this. Best wishes to you and your Mom. Also, did your Mom ever take proibotics for her C-Diff while also taking antibiotics? I've read mixed reviews on this.
