Im 17 and studying art A level at college. when i do my A2 later this year i have to do a personal study which can be about anything i want. I did something similar this year on the artist H.R.Giger, though it didnt have to be an in depth as it has to be for my A2 project. It's like a long essay, a sort of research booklet for people who want to learn about my chosen topic, including artist copies etc. i would just like to know if there are any artists or particular interesting art movements i could look at that i can easily find info on from internet and books etc.
I have quite an open opinion on art, but my main interests are realism and surrealism. i like art with emotional meanings that also look good, something with a romantic theme maybe. i am also interested in gothic sorts of art (hence my last project on Giger) but i don't know many artists. my favourite artists are Dave McKean (the gothicy side of art) and Jack Vettriano (the more realistic and emotional)
I just wanted to add that i mainly work in acrylic paint because this is my strong point, but i am willing to experiment with different medias. Also, i like something quite challenging, so i would rather not do something too simple as im afraid of examiners thinking that's all i am capable of.
