I was just looking over my medical recorRAB from a recent accidental overdose on various medications. Since I have no memory of anything after that event, out of sheer curiosity I'm trying to figure out how bad of shape I was when I first went into the hospital. Since I have no medical background, I'm hoping someone here can decode this for me. Blood pressure was 116/72 mm-Hg, Pulse 89 bpm, body temp was 92.7 F, respiratory rate was 6, saturation (oxygen?) was 24%. I'm a 23 year old female

Well, some of it may be normal for you but since you don't state what your BP, etc normally are nor what your overall health is, I'll give some generalities:

1) BP - excellent if this was it all the time!
2) Pulse - a little high. You can get your norm by measuring your beats per minute when you first wake up and before you get out of bed.
3) Body temp - pretty low. Normal is 98.6 for most people. You can take yours and see what it is now.
4) Resp rate - pretty low. Depending on your fitness level, it's hard to say. This is also easy for you to measure as you can just count your breaths per minute at resting.
5) Oxygenation - VERY low. Should high 90's unless you have some lung condition which might lower it - asthma, etc.

Hope this helps.

squishy412, Normal BP is anywhere from 110/70 to 120/80, so your BP was ok, normal pulse in 60-90 beats per minute, normal temp is 98.6, yours was very low, repirations should be 12-20 per min., yours was extremely low, which is the reason for your low O2 saturation of 24%, O2 saturation should be 100% on room air, or close to it, 95-98% is acceptable. The decrease in O2 saturation means that your body tissues and organs are not receiving adequate oxygen perfusion. If the body is deprived of adequate oxygen for extended period of time, tissue dies. You are very lucky to have received help in an appropriate time frame.hollysmom
