Anyone go from an R1 to a 1098/1198?

I love my Ducati despite some maintenance issues. My first bike was an F4i, and I got my "1st bike" excessive miles out (16k) while owning it. I don't ride the Ducati as much because I'm not so obsessed, and that helps out with putting too many miles on it which works out perfectly.

The fit and finish is very good, the sound and torque make riding it really cool, and people always come up and talk about it, sometimes girls honk, it's funny. My poor buddy with a 600RR feels like crap at the gas stations when we go out.... random dudes say to me: "Nice Ducati man! That's amazing..." To him "Hey dude, uh, that's a nice bike too, but no offense, this one's Italian..." Same day, buddy gets on the 1098 and at the very next gas station a van full of girls honk at him and start talking, ignoring me on his (admittedly raced-out)600RR. It could not have been funnier...

I have had a couple of R1's and I loved them, the '06 required a lot more work to get it where I wanted it than my '03. I ultimately decided to go with Ducati because they are simply awesome machines and I had the opportunity to finally buy one. Oh, another push to this direction was that the new R1's are too fugly. The handling, torque, sound, comfort and design is just . If you used your mirrors on your R1, you will be somewhat frustrated with the one's on the Ducati, even with the extenders installed.
