Since last year I have been getting the odd intermittent kidney ache (dull throb) but it is not painful just a twinge. I didnt go to the doc at first as it only usually happened after alcohol at first and quite a few people I know said they got it sometimes too. However a month ago during a routine medical at work the doctor tested my urine and said I had a kidney infection. My urine got tested at the lab and it was said I had a nasty UTI. Anyway after 3 weeks of different antibiotics my doc tested my urine again and only small traces of bacteria was found which suggested it was probably cleared. However, I am still every day (some worse than others) getting this throb in my left kidney every now and again and twinges. I had an xray and stones were ruled out and today I have an ultrasound but im dreading cancer. I am 25, not lost any weight and feel generally healthy. What else could this be and has anyone else had pain after the infection?

What kind of work do you do? Many things can put pressure on your kidneys, even sitting to long on a computer, that happened to me.It may also be deferred pain from pressure on a nerve.

I passed a stone 6 days ago. I'm still have discomfort on my left side mainly when I stand to long or sit to long. I had a ultra sound done yesterday on both kidneys (mainly because I have a cyst on the right kidney) The side that the stone on looked fine but I sure am not feeling fine. It is tender all the way to the groin. Anyone have this problem?

I have had the same exact feeling on my right side. I had a bad UTI 3 yrs ago, I went to the emergency room and had it taken care of, about 1 yr later I started have back pains but only during the night, I would wake up and once I started to move around it went away. I have been having this pain off and on now for about 3 yrs and finally decided to go see a doctor, I had a urinalysis, a blood test and a sonogram of my kidneys and bladder, he also put me on ciro(antibiotic) the doctor never called back with the results. This was 10 months ago but the pain persists. I never went back to that doctor because I didn't like the place. Now the pain is starting to spread up to my mid-back as well it hurts to lie down and it hurts when I wake up in the morning and throughout the day. I try drinking a ton of water and stopped drinking alchohol, but that didn't seem to do much. I was affraid to go to the doctor again because I am scared that there is something seriously wrong. I finally made an appointment for next week, but I almost want to go to the ER because I just want to know, I don't feel sick at all and feel perfectly healthy, I am tired a lot but not to the point that I sleep all day long. This prob didn't help you much but you are not alone. I will let you know what the results are if I go the the ER
