I had dental implants in July, back surgery in October, and a root canal in November and got a staph infection somewhere along the way. It took multiple antibiotics to get rid of it. Three wks. ago I started having horrible joint and muscle pain. It is so bad I can't sleep. It takes me hours to get up in the mornings and the fatigue is very bad. I can't stay up more than a few hours. at a time I went to my doctor. My wbc was 2.0 and rbc was 3.5. I went back and my wbc was up to 3.2 but the body pain is worse not better. Does anyone have suggests on what kind of doc I should see or has anyone experienced anything similar to what I have experienced? Any information you can me would be so appreciated . I am so freaked out and scared. Thank-you.

Some of the newer antibiotics including Cipro can cause tendonitis, possibly other muscoskeletal problems. Consider a rheumatologist.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply. If the pain is caused from antibiotics is it permanent
or does it stop when the antibiotics get out of your system ? I was on Levaquain, (which I now know normally isn't even used for mrsa staph}tectracycline, and bactrim.

My friend developed some tendonitis after antibiotics. He eventually recovered after several months. However, his problems were not as bad as what you are describing, most of it was confined to one arm. I definitely think you should pursue treatment, but do mention everything you've been though.

Thanks, Jane my general practioner wants me to see a hematologist, and infectious disease doctor...it's just seems excessive considering the symptoms appeared so quickly. I don't want to overly "freak" but it is hard not to.

If you still have some infection which is causing this (I'm not sure how it could, but I don't know everything) then moving quickly is important. In any case, I'm glad they are investigating thoroughly, which hopefully means you will get better soon.

In the meantime, try to get rest, get nutritious food into you. Spend time with people you care about, doing things you enjoy. It strengthens the body. Don't worry too much.
