anyone ever taken a baby camping?

our baby isn't born yet...but i am just wondering what your experience was like camping with a baby.

we plan on taking the baby camping when he turns 1. it will be around April. my boyfriend and i go camping all the time. we usually do real camping...no bathrooms, no running water, no electricity. but there is a camping spot about 10 miles away from our house that we would like to take the baby. there are bathrooms, running water, and electricity. we will be in a tent. there is a hospital and stores within about 5 miles of the camp ground.
 
I think the only real hassle with taking a baby camping would be when they are very young, you should cope just fine with a one year old! I've never been on anything but school camps and I love my creature comforts, but my hubby is an avid camper and has slowly worn me down to the point where I am willing to go on a 'civilised' camping trip when the weather cools down- Alex is 7 1/2 months and we've gone on day hikes without any trouble- camping's not going to be any more difficult!
We'll probably go on a camping trip around Easter time, the weather will be a bit more pleasant then and Alex will be old enough that I won't be stressing over SIDS anymore.
 
Go for it! You sound far more prepared than we were when we took our 6 week old baby camping with us. You can do it!
